Description

Southern Archaeological Services conducted an archaeological watching brief on behalf of Rossiter Yacht Builders Ltd on land at Rossiter's Boatyard, Bridge Street Island, Christchurch, Dorset. The watching brief took place between 9th-17th September 1997. The groundworks comprised topsoil stripping followed by near-stratigraphic removal of natural clay and gravel. The works were in preparation for the construction of a yachting haven. The geology of the site is part marine/estuarine alluvium, part made ground. No archaeological features were recorded.
