Description

CKC Archaeology undertook a watching brief during the excavation of groundworks for an extension to Elim Church, Milhams Street in June 2005. The development site lies within the historic town centre of Christchurch. However, there were no archaeological features in the main trench below layers of modern topsoil/rubble and concrete/scalping layers. The stratification comprised natural gravels and sands. Three modern fence post holes were observed cutting through the concrete/scalping layers.
