Description
During development work in the courtyard to the rear of the Wessex Royale Hotel, 32 High West Street, Dorchester, Steve Wallis observed a pit dug against the east wall of the courtyard and the rear of 18b Princes Street. The pit was about 1.5m across and 2m deep. It revealed c. 1.5m of soil containing occasional pieces of modern rubble directly overlying natural chalk.
No archaeological finds or features were noted.
