Description

A site visit was conducted by J. Rigg of the Ordnance Survey Archaeological Division on the 21 August 1954 at the site of a Roman inhumation cemetery at the New Compasses Inn, Miller's Close, Dorchester. His site notes are recorded in the OS record card as follows. The landlord of the New Compasses Inn in 1954 confirmed that the inn was built in 1903, but had no knowledge of the 1903 burials.
