Description

The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments conducted an architectural survey of the former Compasses Public House, Millers Close, Dorchester on 13 February 1980 (1). An 18th century farmhouse with a probable later attached cottage. The two-storey farmhouse is of brick with a hipped thatched roof. It was extended to the west around the same time the cottage was built. The extension is also of brick with a coursed rubble and rendered return wall and a slate roof. The cottage is also of brick with a slate roof. The farmhouse has also been used as a public house.
