Description

The Royal Commission on Historical Monuments conducted an architectural survey of the Old Forge and The Old Forge Cottage on 10 April 1984 [1]. The Forge was built in the early 19th century of Portland and Ridgeway rubble with brick dressings and a pitched slate roof. It has two storeys with planked double doors on the ground floor and a louvered opening on the first. The Old Forge Cottage was built in the 18th century or earlier. It has been greatly altered since. The building is rendered and has a pitched tile roof [2].
