Description

Workmen observed a depression lined with puddled clay whilst laying out the Borough Gardens in 1910. It is thought that this depression, which lies just below the highest point of Dorchester and immediately outside the western town wall, may represent the site of a Roman reservoir into which the aqueduct flowed and from which conduits supplying the Roman town issued.
