Description

Two inhumations were found in one grave in making a sunken rockery on the south west side of Icen Way during the early 1930s. The individual skeletons were said to be of girls aged about 7 and 12. They were extended E-W side by side. Nails with adherent wood spaced about 7 ins apart suggested wooden coffins, and one burial had a small dark grey 3rd century bowl and three grotesque flint nodules. The remains were reburied in situ under a mound in the rockery.
