Description
observations made during groundworks for the foundations and services at Robins Garth, Culliford Road, Dorchester during 1955 were recorded by the RCHM.
Undisturbed chalk was visible at only 1.5ft below the surface at a point where the Roman town ditch might be expected given the modern town topography. It is suggested that either the ditch was interrupted at this point for a gate, or the Roman town ditch diverged to the north from the modern South Walks Road.
