Description
Observation of builders' trenches in the area north of St Georges Road (centred at SY 70209038) was carried out by Christopher Sparey Green during 1984.
No obvious buried features were observed. Examination of surface spoil produced one sherd of samian and one of black burnished ware and a possible tessera. Other sherds were medieval and included sherds of two vessels probably dating from the 13th or 14th centuries. Much post-medieval and Victorian material was incorporated in this soil.
