Description
Wessex Archaeology agreed to complete the excavation and recording of burials at 43 Cornwall Road, Dorchester, exposed by the Misses Hunt during digging in their garden in July 1986 (1)(2).
A trench measuring 2.8m x 18m had been excavated to a depth of 0.5m revealing an extended adult inhumation oriented N-S. No grave cut or presence of a coffin could be identified. Another adult inhumation was found approximately 0.1m below the first. It appeared to lay on its left side, slightly flexed and oriented S-N. Again no grave cut or coffin could be identified.
These burials are probably part of the same cemetery excavated at 8 Albert Road (1).
