Description
Edward Cunnington is reported to have seen a 'well-made Roman mortar floor' in the foundation trench for the new wall 'at the north-east corner of the new fair ground in Dorchester' (1). In addition, some samian and black burnished ware pottery was found, together with an enamelled copper alloy belt plate of Roman military type (1)(2)(3).
