Description

Magnetometry survey carried out in Feb 1988 by John Gater and A D H. Bartlett for Wessex Archaeology as part of their geophysical assessment of the old Rugby ground at Weymouth Avenue, Dorchester, now the site of the Football Stadium. The geophysical survey suggested considerable modern interference on the site. A former field boundary, indicated on the 1976 OS map (1:2,500), was identified. Otherwise it could only be concluded that some of the magnetic anomalies might represent pits or ditches.
