Description

Exeter Archaeology conducted an archaeological evaluation of land to the east of Poundbury Farm proposed for industrial development by Dorset Cereals Ltd. Six trenches were excavated by machine, comprising a 3.3% sample of the site. Trench 6 measured 15m by 1.5m and 0.4m deep. It was aligned NNE-SSW inr the NE corner of the site. The stratigraphy comprised 0.25m topsoil, above a relatively stone free yellowish-brown clay, 0.09m thick, above chalk bedrock. No archaeological features were recorded.
