Wessex Archaeology was comissioned by the Duchy of Cornwall to undertake an archaeological desk-based assessment of c. 34 ha of land to the west of Dorchester, lying either side of Bridport Road. The assessment supports an outline planning application for the development of the site.
The assessment included a site visit made on 28th October 1998. It concludes there is a high potential for prehistoric artefact scatters and features, particularly Bronze Age field boundaries and settlement remains.
