Description
Wessex Archaeology undertook an archaeological watching brief in May 2001, during groundworks associated with Phase 1 of the construction of a new cemetery on land adjacent to Poundbury Road, to the northwest of Dorchester, Dorset (1).
This watching brief comprised a further phase of archaeological work associated with the new cemetery, following an excavation in November 2000 (2), which was itself informed by an evaluation undertaken in 1997.
A single linear feature was identified during the watching brief and was almost certainly a component of the Bronze Age ditched field system recorded during earlier archaeological investigations.
