Description

An archaeological watching brief during groundworks associated with a new extension to the rear of 11 Princes Street, Dorchester was carried out by AC archaeology during September 2003. The groundworks comprised the excavation of a hand dug 'L' shaped trench (3m long N-S, 2.6m long E-W) to a depth of 1.15m. No evidence for in situ archaeological deposits pre-dating the post-medieval period was identified during the work. One sherd of Romano-British pottery was recovered from a deposit of 19th-20th century date.
