Description

A small-scale excavation on a plot of land occupied until the 1980s by the Wimborne Model Town, an area to the north-west of the Minster occupying some of the highest part of the medieval town. A small group of medieval and early post medieval features, including rubbish pits and possible boundary ditches, was recorded. A generally low density of medieval finds suggested to the excavators that the area was not intensively occupied. A single sherd of possible Saxon pottery was recovered from a later pit. Unstratified prehistoric finds - worked flint and a sherd of Bronze Age pottery - were also found on the site.
