Description

Archaeological work in advance of planting of a new beech avenue at Kingston Lacy parallel to the original avenue included the excavation of a section through a ditch with a shallow, rounded profile interpreted as a probable field boundary. Sections were cut through three apparently similar ditches at different points. This ditch was 2.7m wide and 0.18m deep, and the fillings contained small fragments of prhistoric pottery and lay below deposits containing Romano-British pottery.
