Description

In May 1977 a small area of tarmac was removed by members of the Shaftesbury and District Archaeological Group to investigate subsistence near the junction of Park Walk and Abbey walk, approximately six metres south and 12.5 metres east of the south west corner of the Abbey House wall. This revealed what they described as a water-course with a brick base, sides lined with greensand, and capped with stone tiles. (1)
