Description

Bournemouth Corporation opened a gravel pit on the south side of Castle Lane in 1929. J B Calkin was informed that Late Iron Age pottery was found from two roughly circular areas about 10 m in diameter in 1930. He subsequently visited the site frequently and excavated two pits. A number of ditches were also recognised but not excavated. (1)
