Description
GREENHILL 1. 1625 (North Side) Abbotts Fee
ST 6316 1/103 28.11.50. II GV 2.
Adjoining Ramsam House, but with frontage set back. Probably early to rid C19 front. 3 storey 2 window stone front. Tudor casements with label moulds, probably early to mid C19. Projecting porch of similar date with shafted supports. The front incorporates three carved stone quatrefoil panels, those at the ends being partially covered, one to left hand by a buttress, the other by the return wall of the next house. This suggests that part of the masonry is genuine medieval origin, possibly from Abbot Ramsam's New Inn, demolished circa 1842. Front has moulded cornice, panelled parapet and dormers. Plaintile roof.
All the listed buildings on the North Side of Greenhill from Newell Cottage to Belmont: and on the South Side from Delta to premises occupied by Godden and Curtis form a group.
