Description
CORFE CASTLE EAST STREET (West side ) SY 96 82 7/53 No. 16 ( Stone Lodge) (formerly 20.11.59 listed as Old Police Cottage) GV II
Cottage in terrace, probably originally one house with No. 14 (q.v.). C17. Rubble stone walls, stone slate roof, brick stack at left end. One storey and attic. Ledged door, and evidence of second, blocked door. Ground floor has 2 casements, one with glazing bars, one with cast iron lights. Attic has one gabled 1/2-dormer with casements with lead lights. Internally, main ground floor room has large open fireplace with cambered, stop-chamfered timber lintel. (RCHM, Monument 23. Dorset. Vol. II).
