CORFE CASTLE EAST STREET (East side) SY 96 81 8/35 Jubilee House (formerly listed as Almshouses)

Block of almshouses. Dated 1677, restored 1977. Rubble stone walls, stone slate roof. One brick stack at right end, one in centre and one near left end. One storey and attic. At left end, a former single-storey outbuilding raised to main level and incorporated in main building in 1977. In centre of original building a flight of stone steps leads up to a ledged door at first floor level. On ground floor, 2 double width door openings - originally for paired doors but now infilled with windows designed as fixed doors. Also 7 casements with centre horizontal glazing bar. Attic has 3 hipped 1/2-dormers,- one with ledged door, 3 with casements with horizontal glazing bars. C20 extensions at rear, in matching construction. (RCHM, Monument 13. Dorset. Vol. II).
