CORFE CASTLE EAST STREET (East side) SY 96 82 7/19 Nos. 11, 15, 17/19 and 21 (formerly listed as Nos. 20.11.59 130, 131 and 132) GV II Block of cottages, originally Uvedale's House, a town merchant's house. Late C16, altered in C18 and later. Rubble stone walls, stone slate roofs, brick stacks each end of front range and in centre of block; plastered stack at rear of rear range. Irregular L-shaped plan. In front range No. 17/19, at left end, part- 2 storeys, part one storey, and attic. Ledged door with glass panel. Left of this, on ground floor, one casement with glazing bars. Right of door a 6-light stone mullioned window with lead lights under hoodmould and relieving arch. Attic, at left end, has one gabled dormer with casements with glazing bars. First floor, at right end, has a 6-light stone mullioned window with lead lights under hood- mould - shared with No. 21. No. 21, at right of front range and extending to rear, of 2 storeys. Ledged door with lead lights in upper part. First floor mullioned window shared with No. 17/19. Rear range, in matching construction, has casements on each floor, some with glazing bars. In rear range, No. 15, at right end, of 3 storeys, has part-glazed door. Ground floor has 2 casements with glazing bars. First and second floors each have one casement with glazing bars. No. 11 at left end, part one storey and attic, part 2-storeyed. In left section, part glazed door. Ground floor has one casement with glazing bars. Attic has one pent-roofed dormer with similar casements. Right section has, on ground floor, 2 casements, one with glazing bars. One casement with glazing bars on first floor. Attached to No, 11 at left end, the original coach house, now used as store, single-storey with hipped roof. Internally, No. 17/19 has, on ground floor, a large open fireplace, part built up, with 4-centred stone arch. Other early features may be concealed under later plaster. A National Trust property.
