Description

SY 88 NW 4/203 MORETON STATION ROAD (North Side) Glebe House. Formerly listed ad the Rectory II Built c1750, enlarged at rear in C19. Brick wall, rendered, tiled roof with stone eaves courses, rendered stacks. Later rear extensions have part slate, part tiled roofs. Two storeys and attics. Main south front has moulded timber eaves cornice, other facades have brick dentil courses. South front has two C19 canted bay windows on ground floor, with glazed doors and fixed side-lights. Central double-hung sash window in arched head with keystone, with glazing bars - replacing original floor. Five similar windows on first floor. Attic has two pedimented dormers, with casements with glazing bars. West elevation has entrance door in trellised porch with lead flat roof - this in the elevation has Ground floor has C19 canted bay with double-hung sashes. First floor as one double-hung sash window with glazing bars. Internally, one ground floor room has cornice with egg-and-tongue moulding. Cut string staircase - C18 - with turned balusters, and spandril brackets. Acanthus leaf cornice to first floor landing. Several C18 doors with raised panels. Chamfered beams in first floor ceiling. In attic, a cupboard made up of C17 panelling, with ornamental hinges, probably brought from a earlier house. Brick boundary wall along road. RCHM Monument 7. Listing NGR: SY8037789389
