Description

CORFE CASTLE SOUTH STREET, KINGSTON SY 95 79 6/115 (East side) Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4, (formerly listed as Nos. 1, 2 and 3 20.11.59 GV II Block of 4 cottages. Probably early C19. Rubble stone walls, stone slate roofs. Nos. 2, 3 and 4 form a terrace. No. 1 is in a projecting rear wing. No. 1 has brick stack at end, with diagonally set shafts with oversailing caps. Part one storey, part one storey and attic. In left, higher, section, part-glazed door with cast iron lattice glazing. Ground floor has one casement with similar glazing. Attic has a coped gabled dormer with similar casement. Right, lower, section, has one similar casement. No. 2 at left end of terrace has brick stack with diagonally set shafts with oversailing caps. One storey and attic. Flush panel door up flight of stone steps. Ground floor has 2 casements with cast iron lattice glazing, under stone lintols. Attic has 2 coped gabled dormers with similar casements. No. 3, in centre, has ledged door under stone lintol. Ground floor has one casement with cast iron lattice glazing and one with glazing bar. Attic has 2 coped gabled dormers with casements matching those below. No. 4, at right end, has part-glazed panelled door under stone lintol. Ground floor has 2 casements with glazing bars, under stone lintols. Attic has 2 coped gabled dormers with similar casements. Small lean-to extension at right end, in matching construction.
