Description

1. 5190 SOUTH STREET (West Side) No 12 SY 9287 1/40 7.5.52. II* GV 2. C18. Colourwashed brick. Ground floor partly coursed Purbeck rubble. Pitched tile roof. Stone slates above eaves. 2 storeys and attics. Brick oversailing courses at eaves. 3 modern iron casements in original openings on 1st floor, 1 on ground floor. 2 modern attic dormers. Contemporary bowed shopfront, flanked by moulded pilasters with paterae capitals, taking full entablature with elaborate moulded dentils. Adjacent door to left-hand: 4 flush panels and 2 sunk and moulded panels, panelled reveals and soffit, flanked by moulded pilasters with paterae capitals, oblong fanlight flanked by elaborate cut brackets taking hood concave in plan and continuing entablature of shopfront. Part-glazed door to right, with reeded frame. Badge of the Lord of the Manor. Nos 2 to 10 (even), The Unitarian Chapel, Nos 12 to 32 (even) and Holy Trinity Gallery form a group.
