House with shop, now commercial premises with flat above. Early C19 with later C19 additions and 1930s shop front; restored 1994. Painted brick in Flemish bond; concealed Welsh slate roof. Double-depth plan with contemporary rear wing further extended in 2 builds. 3 storeys; one-bay range. Fine 1930s shop front has recessed central doorway flanked by bowed windows on polished, veined, black stone plinth. Door has large glazed panel with glazing bars forming central diamond; tessellated pavement in front with name of proprietors (Bright and Son) and soffit of recess is panelled with raised central diamond. Overlights to door and windows have narrow green glass bands to top and bottom and glazing bars forming diamonds: the shop front is flanked by panelled pilasters with tripartite pendant motifs on top and fixed iron supports to shop canopy; above canopy box is fascia with moulded wooden border rising in 2 breaks at centre. Rising from this is first-floor sash window with a 12-pane, 2-light casement window to 2nd floor, both under gauged brick arches. Cornice below flat-coped parapet. Rendered end stack to right. Rear wing of Flemish bond with grey headers: to front is one-window range with segmental-arched window openings including glazing bar sash to first floor; next and wider extension is of pale and bluish brick in irregular Flemish bond with cambered, brick-arched windows including 3 sashes with glazing bars to first floor, that in centre inserted under a timber lintel, and a similar smaller window to right of 2nd floor. Further C19 extension, altered with mid C20 rebuilding and upper floors. INTERIOR said to have retained some early C19 features. Principally included for group value and retention of rare complete surviving 1930s shop front.
