House. Originally C17, extended mid C19. Painted brick, reported to have some cob, with brick gable stacks and slate roof. Single-depth plan with lower 2-room C17 range to left of mid C19 block; two C19 rear wings. 2 storeys; 2:2-window range. Double fronted left-hand section has a doorway with hipped trellis porch and paired left-hand ground-floor windows; taller C19 SE range with a right-hand hipped roof has French window; plate-glass sashes. Rear has 2 mid C19 outer wings with projecting verges, the NW entrance gable with a ground-floor cornice and blind, keyed oculus in the gable, round-arched windows and central door beneath a plain Venetian window. Plate-glass C19 sashes. INTERIOR not inspected. HISTORICAL NOTE: in the ownership of the Waterman family since 1848, who were associated with the Newfoundland trade.
Listing NGR: SZ0032995940, cob with front of red brick in Flemish bond, patched and raised in paler brick, faced with similar brick to right side, otherwise rendered; Welsh slate roof with galvanised iron ridge and brick ridge stack.
