9/43 Lodge to Gaunt's House
II
Cottage Orné, built as a lodge to Gaunt's House. Early C19. English bond brickwork with conical thatched roof having capped eaves. Central brick stack. One and a half storeys. Polygonal plan. Ground floor has triple timber casements with triangular headed lights and leaded glazing under returned labels. Upper floor has square headed timber casements with leaded lights. Part glazed doors at angles under thatched porches on rustic timber columns. A good example of this kind of lodge. (R.C.H.M. Dorset, Vol V, p.34, no.29). Newman, J and Pevsner, N.
