Listed Building: NORTH LODGE TO DEANS COURT (107044)

DEAN'S COURT LANE 1. 5193 (east side) SZ 0199 NW 2/21 14.6.52 North Lodge to Dean's Court II 2. The former lodge to Dean's Court. Dated 1715 in rendering over door. This is probably the date of the original building. Main range adjoins road, originally one room deep, with a projecting rear wing of same date or slightly later. Main range extended to north, late C18-early C19, then increased to 2 rooms deep later in C19. Modern garage addition to north. Brick walls, rendered on front elevation, tiled roofs, brick stacks. Front elevation has entrance in early Gothic Revival style. Door, curved on plan, and side panels form a slightly recessed porch, with 4-centred arch, and fanlight. South of the door, a pair of Gothic style French doors. North of the door 2 double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. First floor has 3 similar windows. Plat band at first floor level. Attic has 3 dormers, 2 retaining lead lights, one with plain fixed glazing. At the rear, the projecting wing has 2 double-hung sash windows and a larger window with Gothic style glazing on the ground floor, and double-hung sash windows on the first floor. Where the main range has been doubled- up, the roof has been flattened in pitch and slated, on each side of the projecting wing. These roofs have half-dormers with double-hung sashes. Internally, the stair, late C18-early C19 rises round an open well, behind the main range. The stair is of cut-string form, with spandril brackets, plain square balusters and moulded handrail. At attic level, above the stair, is a gallery, not accessible from the first floor. Coved plaster ceiling above stair well. RCHM Monument 15. Listing NGR: SZ0102099806
