2. 1763. Built or improved then by Gustavus Brander, an early curator of the British Museum. Red brick with grey headers, eaves cornice and tiled roof. 2 storeys and 1 dormer. 6 windows including off centre bay window. Sashes, barred on 1st floor. Addition of 3 windows to east. Louis Philippe, King of France, lived here for some time from 1807 during his 1st exile in England as a result of the French Revolution.
Priory Cottage and The Priory, form a group with the Priory Ruins and with Christchurch Priory Church.
