2. 1893-5, John Oldrid Scott and C T Miles. Large flint and stone church in Decorated style, with polygonal shingled fleche on ridge. 6-light west window with wheel window over. North porch circa 1920 with bell-turret, on site of intended tower. 2-light windows to north aisle and clerestory; parapet to aisle of flint and stone chequerwork, with gabled coping. Fewer but 4-light windows to south aisle. South transept low and flat-roofed, whereas south-east vestry and north-east chapel are paradoxically gabled as transepts, with chequerwork in gable. Similar gable over 5-light east window. Rich curvilinear tracery. Interior high and wide: 6-bay nave, 2-bay south transept and 2-bay chancel all have same quatrefoil columns of banded pink and slate stone, with foliage capitals, and moulded arches rising from stilted vertical sections over capitals. Roof with canted rafters, rising to a higher lantern down the centre, wall shafts on foliage corbels. Inner arches on colonnettes between north aisle windows. Arcade rises very high over organ. Pulpit carved by H Hems: octagonal timber on ribbed stone base on grey marble pier.
