Details SZ 0382 STUDLAND - 8/58 Manor Farm House and Manor Farm Cottage (including front 20-11-59 boundary wall) (formerly listed as Studland Farm) GV II Farmhouse and attached cottage. Original section probably early C18, south range added c1870. Manor Farm House, at left end, consists of the C19 range and one ground floor room in the C18 range. (One room of the cottage extends over this - a flying freehold). C19 range has rubble stone walls with ashlar dressings, stone slate ½-hipped and gabled roof and plastered stacks. 2 storeys. South (garden) front has, on ground floor, a canted bay window with stone mullions and sashes and a 2-light mullioned sash window. First floor has 2 similar 2-light windows, one under a hipped gable and one under a full gable. Large chimney stack between the windows. Entrance front, with ½-hipped gable end to road has a similar window on each floor. Single-storey porch with battlemented parapet, and ledged door. Central section, C18, has rubble stone walls up to first floor level and brick above. Stone slate roof, brick stack at right end. 2 storeys and attic. Ground floor (Manor Farm House) has 2 casement windows with glazing bars. First floor (Manor Farm Cottage) has 2 similar windows. Attic has one hipped dormer with similar casements. Right-hand section, C18, has rubble stone walls up to first floor level and brick above - this appears earlier than the centre section. Stone slate roof. 2 storeys and and attic. Part-glazed door under brick relieving arch. Ground floor has 2 casement windows with diamond pattern lead lights in blocked door openings. First floor has 3 similar windows. Attic has 2 hipped dormers with casements with horizontal glazing bars. Lean-to addition at right end, of rubble stone. Single-storey rear wing, of rubble stone, with stone slate roof. Internally some exposed chamfered ceiling beams. Exposed trusses in rear wing. Front boundary wall of stone, with battlements. A National Trust property. RCHM Monument 4 (Dorset Vol II).
