Description

STURMINSTER NEWTON ST 7813 CHURCH LANE St Mary's Church Hall [formerly listed as Church School (Girls) and School House] 9/131 4.10.60 G.V. II Church Hall, originally school, dated 1817 with probably mid-C19 extension to left. Original range: squared, dressed stone, tiled roof with gable ends, no visible stacks, stone quoins. Single storey, 4 window range. 4 C19 wooden 4-pane sashes under segmental stone arches. Central tablet bearing inscription. Left addition: brick (Flemish bond with random flared headers), tiled roof with stone slates to verges, gable end with stone coping and brick kneeler. All windows under segmental brick arches. Central C19, 4-pane sash flanked by 6-pane casements (horizontally pivoting). C20 porch in intersection with earlier range.
