mill
GV II
House and attached mill, mid C19. House of banded brick and flint with brick
dressings, later C19 brick extension right. Mill in English-bond brickwork
with tiled roof. House has slate roof with brick stacks having cogged caps
to ends of original range. 2 storeys, original was of 2 window range. House
has 3-light casements with glazing bars under segmental brick heads. Mill
has 2-light casements with horizontal glazing bars under segmental heads to
the ground floor. Segmental brick mill race arch to left of mill range.
Internally the mill retains much of its original machinery including hurst
with enclosed equipment, stone floor with wooden upright shaft, crownwheel etc.,
remains of wire machine, grain bins, water control mechanism and other items.
The undershot waterwheel has largely rotted away. (March 1985). (RCHM, Dorset,
