Obelisk, dated 1727, by Thornhill. Ashlar. 4 sided on a stepped pedestal with a moulded cornice. Latin inscription on the north side. Surrounded by spiked iron railings. Erected in honour of George II and Queen Caroline. It was destroyed in a gale in 1836 and rebuilt later. 'RCHM, Dorset, Vol III', HMSO 1970, p250 no.3.
