Description

1. 1615 BREACH LANE (East Side) No 2 (Fountain Inn). Range of outbuildings adjoining No 2 to South-west. ST 8523 4/142 II GV 2. The Fountain Inn comprises 2 buildings of different dates. Right hand build is older with C18 front. 2 storeys. 2 windows. Plain tile gabled roof. Front of painted stone rubble; plinth. 3-light windows; 1st floor windows with leaded panes in upper parts of windows; lower windows with segmental heads. To left hand and in recession, a later build. Similarly of 2 storeys, 2 bays. Plaintile gabled roof. Painted front. Stonework behind incorporates a female head, possibly from the medieval abbey of Shaftesbury. To south-west of Inn, a long range of outbuildings set on a slight curve. 2 storeys. Squared rubble. Steeply pitched roof now covered with corrugated iron except for bay at South West end which has a tile roof with half hip. No 2 and range of outbuildings adjoining No 2 to the South-west form a group with Nos 6 to 20 (even) The Knapp. Listing NGR: ST8581223072
