Description

WEYMOUTH SY6683 MILL STREET, Broadwey 873-1/8/441 (North side) Melchior and other monuments approx 3m S of east end of Church of St Nicholas GV II 2 headstones. Early C19. Portland stone. (i) Nearer the chancel wall. to George ...., dates not deciphered. The headstone has a bold counter-curved top, and in the upper part is a low relief carving of an urn and sarcophagus, above the plain inscription panel; (ii) Immediately adjoining the last, a lofty headstone with slightly rounded top over high relief carving of military emblems. The inscription includes reference to Trumpeter Melchior and others, and the monument was erected in 1807. Listing NGR: SY6679883533
