Description

WEYMOUTH SY6683 DORCHESTER ROAD, Broadwey 873-1/8/430 (West side) 14/06/74 Nos.701, 703 AND 705 GV II 3 houses in longer row. Early to mid C19. Squared and coursed Portland stone, rendered to No.701, slate roofs. 2 storeys; No.701 has plain sashes, with a C20 central door under fanlight in reveals. The other 2 houses, each of 2 windows, have 16-pane sashes with splayed stone lintels, stone sills, and alternating jambs in Broadmayne brick. The end bay to the right is an infill in slightly less well dressed stonework, with a full-width doorway below the window. No.703 has a panelled door under a C20 glazed gabled porch, and No.705 has a C20 stone porch with slate gabled roof and C20 door, these each to the left of the house frontage. There are 4 brick ridge stacks. INTERIOR: not inspected. Modest cottages, but part of the longest surviving terrace of this date in Broadwey, (Nos 707-715 (qv)), with original detail to two of the three. Listing NGR: SY6685983885
