Terrace of 3 houses in row. Early C19. Flemish bond brickwork, rendered gable and rear wall, slate roofs. EXTERIOR: 3 storeys, double attics and basement, each 1-windowed; full-height flat bows with tripartite sashes, those at second floor retain glazing bars, but others are plain sashes, and No.20 has a C19 two-pane flat shop front in pilasters to a cornice with gablets. The top floor has small modillion cornices to the bows. To the left of No.20, in a brick arch to painted deep reveals is a door to fanlight, all on 8 stone steps with nosings, and with spearhead railings returned at both sides. At the basement level is a sash in a slight bow, and a 6-panel flush door under the steps, which are carried on a brick arch with iron camber bars. The doors to Nos 21 & 22 are paired, each 6-panel part-glazed under painted-in fanlights in plain reveals, and on 5 stone steps, with railings across the full width of the frontage, returned to the doorways, and continuous with No.20. At basement level is a 12-pane sash to No.21, a 3-light casement to No.22; and 2 flush-panel doors under the brick-arched steps. The basement is accessible by a pavement at the lower level. Full-width plain strings at first and second floor levels, and a simple 'cornice' on paired brick dentils, below a blocking course with coped parapet; there are 2 large ridge stacks. The rear has a mansard roof with dormers at 2 levels, a single flat-roofed at the upper level, and 6 to the lower slope. Below are various lights, including tall stair lights to Nos 21 & 22, which also has a large flat-roofed addition. No.20 has a 2-storey slate gabled narrow range, with a range of workshop windows to the upper floor. INTERIOR: not inspected.
