Description
WEYMOUTH
SY6778NE TRINITY ROAD 873-1/23/371 (South side) 18/06/70 No.3
GV II
House in row. Late C18. Painted brick, slate roof. A modest building set slightly forward from No.2A (qv) adjoining, with double mansard roof to internal valley gutter; the rear range seems to be contemporary with the front. 2 storeys and attic, 2 windows; small horizontal sash flat-roofed dormers above a 12-pane sash to painted brick voussoirs, and 2-storey tripartite 8:12:8-pane sash bow to flat roof with moulded cornice; RCHME suggests that the lower part of the bow was inserted later; it is slightly smaller in diameter, and has its own cornice mould. Under the single sash is a plank door with plain transom light, probably to a through-way, and to its right a 6-panel fielded door with plain fanlight to an elliptical arch with reeded pilasters and arch with key, all on a single stone step. A slight plinth, and a moulded stone cornice at the level of the top of the bow, plus deep blocking and coped parapet. There are 2 gable stacks. The back has two C18 raking dormers, a large central 16-pane sash (but the bottom sash plain), and a 12-pane sash. There is an external escape stair and door, and a brick stack. INTERIOR not inspected.
