Former detached house, in 3 ownerships. Early C19. Rendered or pebble-dashed (No.142), slate roofs. PLAN: the property lies well back from the main road, with a principal facade facing N over open country, and there are remains of a formal garden. A wide 4-bay original house which has been extended slightly to the right, and with a larger range to the left (No.144). EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, the main range with 4 windows; at first floor 16-pane sashes, ground floor has two 16-pane alternating with doors, far left is 6-panel, and to centre a 6-panel under plain fanlight. To the right No.140 has a glazed door and replacement window; the full width of this range has a glazed verandah carried on slender cast-iron columns, enclosed with glazing to No.140. Raised coped verges, a large stack to the left, and 3 ridge stacks. To the right is a low single-bay hipped extension, and to the left a low 2-storey range (No.144), with narrow 8-pane lights, 2 to the first floor and 3 to ground floor, with glazed entrance door far left. The glazed verandah continues across this range, which has a low-pitched hipped roof. At the back, facing N are 2 tripartite bows with 8:12:8-pane sashes, and a central sash, a square bay, and some later fenestration. INTERIOR: not inspected.
