GV II
Public house. Early C19. Rendered, slate roof. No.47 was a small one-bay house, with a flat-roofed dormer behind the parapet, and an 8:12:8-pane bow oriel above a late C19 shop front, with recessed glazed door to the left. The main building, No.49, is in 2 storeys and attic, returning to Bath Street, with corner entry, corresponding with the splayed entry to the Duke of Albany Public House opposite (qv). There is one flat-roofed dormer above 2 bold canted oriels with plain sashes and panelled skirts. The left oriel is above a plain sash, and the right is over a wide 3-light window with 2 shallow transom lights and a moulded cornice; this window is repeated on the return to Bath Street. A panelled door to an arched opening, far left, but the main entry is on the splay, with a pair of curved panelled doors between slender Doric attached columns under a moulded quadrant cornice. A small plinth, moulded cornice, blocking course and coped parapet which return to a plain gable with a small plain light. No stacks are visible. INTERIOR: not inspected.
