Parish Church. South door and south chancel arch C12, chancel, south porch and north vestry early C14, west tower dated 1487, north and south aisles and nave, c 1500. General restorations of 1852 and 1880. 1852 work by Hicks, 1880 work by Ewan Christian. Walls of ashlar, banded flint and ashlar and squared rubble. Slate roofs, gable-ended with stone copings to nave and chancel, hipped and part hidden behind parapets to aisles. Plan: west tower, north and south aisles, nave, chancel, south porch and north vestry. Tower: ashlar 3-stage embattled with crocketted finials, parapet string with gargoyles and square set buttresses with offsets surmounted by gargoyles; west door with 2-centred head in square surround with carved leaf enriched spandrels over which is string course bearing black letter inscription with date 1487; 5-light, panel tracery west window; paired belfry windows with panel tracery and pierced stone panels under 2- centred heads with returned labels. South aisle and porch: gabled porch left with moulded 2-centred head and continuous jambs; aisle is embattled with string bearing gargoyles; buttresses with off-sets bearing gargoyles; central 4-light window flanked by 2-light windows with panel tracery under 2-centred heads; east window of 3-lights, panel tracery under 2-centred head. North aisle: embattled; buttresses with set-offs; 4 windows of 3-lights with panel tracery under 2-centred heads; to left is a 6-light, panel tracery window in an alliptical head; blocked 4-centred door. Vestry has a single lancet north and a 2-light square headed window east. Chancel: C19 5-light, panel tracery, east window under a 2-centred head with a stopped label; 2 similar, though original, 3-light south windows flanking a doorway with a chamfered 4-centred head. C12 south doorway with segmental, chevron enriched head and three-quarter shafts. Internal features: 2-centre, moulded chancel arch with C12 south respond having scalloped captial with beakheads, north respond a copy; 4 bay north arcade with moulded, 2-centred arches; 3 bay south arcade with 2-centred heads and capitals having vine enrichment; 2-centred tower arch with blind tracery to soffit; chapel/organ chamber arches are round on octagonal piers, head corbels to responds; Cl9 roofs; 4-centred rood vice door; probably C15 octagonal font on cylindrical stem with octagonal base; C19 pulpit and pews; various C17, C18, C19 and C20 monuments.
