Tablet at East end has date 1601 and commemorates re-building, including Churchyard enclosure, in 1715. Pope, in a letter to Miss Blount, describes it as having been designed by William, 7th Lord Digby. Rectangular stone building with two aisles. Windows and Nave arcade in Gothic style. Round windows at West end of aisles. Square bell cupola. C18 reredos, gallery and pulpit. Gracveyard has iron gates and stone gate-piers with balls.
Church of St Mary Magdalene, Churchyard walls, piers and gates, Lattice House, Garden Wall and piers to Lattice House, Middle House and Raleigh Lodge form a group with the gates at the entrance to Sherborne Castle in Sherborne Rural District.
