4/71 The Old Manse
GV II
Detached House. Early C17. Coursed rubble-stone walls. Slate roof hipped at left hand, with a stone gable-coping at right hand. 2 stacks, one left of centre, ridge, rendered. One at right hand gable, stone with a moulded cornice. 2 storeys. c.5 windows, 2-, 3- and 5-light wooden casements with rectangular lead lights, C20. Wooden lintels over. Front door, right of centre, plank, studded, C20 stone porch with pitched slate roof over. Continuous catslide roof at rear. Interior: stone fireplace with splayed reveals. Tudor-arch head and jambs, all straight-chamfered. Deep chamfered ceiling-beams. Source: R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p 56 (40).
