Description

EVERSHOT ST 5704 FORE STREET (South side) 7/29 No.11 (The Old Rectory) 4.12.51 GV II Former Rectory, now detached house. Early C17, much refashioned and extended at rear in C18 and C19. Rubble-stone walls and stone ashlar quoins. Slate roof, hipped at left hand and gabled at right hand. Parallel ridges, and a rear wing to south-east. Two brick stacks at right hand gables, and on rear left gable. Two storeys. 3 windows. Canted bay at right hand side, with two-light ovolo-moulded stone mullions to each face, continuous string-course between the storeys. Iron casements with lead lights, and single panes. Left of this bay: 4 light ovolo-moulded mullion window. First floor has two 2-light windows of same type. Front door, at left hand, has moulded stone jambs and depressed-arch head. Plank door with strap-hinges. Returned label over, with lozenge stops. Rear range has cast-iron casements, and 2-light wood casements. (RCHM. Dorset I, p.108(8)) Listing NGR: ST5744004491
