WESTBURY 1. 1625 (West Side) Nos 4 and 6.
ST 6316 1/233 II GV 2.
Stone corner block of 2 storeys and attic to Trendle Street. Premises occupied by A and H Prout of C16 origin, altered externally. Moulded ceiling beams and fireplace surriund internally. Slate hipped roof. Front to Westbury has 1 boxed dormer, and on first floor, three 2-light casements with small panes. On ground floor from left to right hand end, 6-flush panelled door in frame with small fanlight and with lintel and advertisement board over; to right hand again, a 3-light sash and a smaller paired sash. Front to Trendle Street has on first floor a 3-light casement window with wood lintel on first floor and below it, a fixed window within a fluted frame; tall brick stack at eaves to left hand.
Nos 4 and 6: 2 storeys and attic. 3 window bays. Slate gable roof; wavy ridge. 2 box dormers with segmental heads. Stone front. On first floor from left to right hand end, a 2-light casement and 2 sash windows, each 3 panes wide. On ground floor from left to right, shop front with C19 style shop window with fascia and moulded cornice and half glazed shop door; to right hand again another similar door and then another similar sash window, 3 panes wide.
Premises occupied by A and W Prout, Nos 4, 6, Digby Estate Nos 256 and 257, Britania Inn, Devonia House, Harley House, Penarth House and Pinehaven form a group with the Old Mitre, Lower Acreman Street. Also forms a group with Digby Estate No 169 with premises occupied by P J Stainer to right hand, Trendle Cottage including front garden wall, out- house range adjoining Trendle Cottage on east side including premises occupied by E Brake, premises occupied by R W Hyde and Digby Estate No 168.
